Chambers in the United States date back to 1768. There are chambers at the local, state, national and global level. Local chambers are formed to help area businesses by offering membership benefits such as business advice, networking, advertising, seminars and workshops. They are active in the political realm on behalf of their business community. They are advocates for their members and their community as a whole.
